The Committee agreed that there should be a clear and specific statement from the government and from the government and the African Union leaders that the use of non-lethal means of conflict prevention in the world is urgently necessary.
The committee agreed that although it was “extremely important in the context of an orderly African response,” it was also the responsibility of leaders to “reform on a national level.”
It said a national response to poverty, which also must be consistent with the principles of development, justice and humanitarian law, will be an important focus for the next step, and an international approach.
It is also concerned about the fact that there is, in a limited sense, a strong African Union position that the UN should respond to this conflict directly and effectively. Executive Chairs in Tanzania
